BE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Every year players from around the world move around the country to play with a junior hockey team and
prepare for college hockey This year, we are proud to welcome to Rum River Mallards to our community.
Most of these players prefer to live in a family environment during the rigorous hockey season while they are
away from their own families.
Having host families that open their hearts and homes play a critical part in the success of the program, and
help these athletes fulfill their dreams. Many of these players will go on to play college and professional
hockey.

WHAT IS BILLETING?
• Welcoming a dedicated young athlete into your family
• Providing a warm bed and the comforts of home
• Offering nutritious meal and snack options
• Serving as a stable and supportive influence to an athlete living away from home
often for the first time
WHY BE A BILLET FAMILY?
• These motivated young men are outstanding role models for their host siblings.
• Create lifelong relationships as families often keep in contact with their billets
throughout their college or professional careers—and beyond
• Families receive a monthly stipend to off-set expenses
The billeting experience is rewarding for both the family and the
player. Contact our billet coordinator to learn more about hosting
a Rum River Mallard player this season
